Lady Antebellum: Own the Night

Country music group Lady Antebellum formed of Dave Haywood, Charles Kelley and Hillary Scott released their third studio album "Own the Night" on 13th September 2011. The country/country-pop album topped Billboard 200 charts. Unique sound of Lady Antebellum is formed by the vocal chemistry between Hillary Scott and Charles Kelley. Dave Haywood focuses on songwriting, singing harmonies and playing various music instruments.

The leading single "Just a Kiss" was released in May 2011 and peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts and topped Hot Country Songs. "Own the Night" is full of bighearted ballads including piano-laden ballads "Just a Kiss", "The Heart of the World" or "As You Turn Away".

The previous album "Need You Now" became the second-best-selling album of 2010 and song "Need You Now" grabbed Grammys for Song of the Year and Record of the Year.

The End of R.E.M.

Members of American alternative rock band R.E.M. Michael Stipe, Mike Mills, Peter Buck and Bill Berry (former member) announced breakup on their official website. Rock world is shocked by unexpected breakup on 21th September 2011. R.E.M. exists for 31 years together and released fifteen studio albums. Singles "Losing My Religion" and "Everybody Hurts" belongs to their biggest hits.

The band's final album "Collapse Into Now" was released in March 2011. The band is planning to release a compilation album called "Part Lies, Part Heart, Part Truth, Part Garbage 1982-2011" in November 2011.

Example: Playing in the Shadows

British post-urban rapper Example (Elliot John Gleave) released his third album "Playing in the Shadows". Example's album "Playing in the Shadows" belongs to nowadays strong British street music including Tinie Tempah, Tinchy Stryder, Professor Green and Dizzee Rascal.

"Playing in the Shadows" contains just one collaboration and then collaborations with producers including Michael Wood, Nero, Chase & Status, Faithles, dupstep godfather Skream and Brookes Brothers. Songs from different producers stays cohesive by Example's voice.

Example's lyrics vary from rejecting a woman for her hard-partying ways ("Never Had a Day") to drug topic ("Under the Influence"). The electro hip-hop single "Changed the Way You Kiss Me" was released on 5th June 2011 and topped the UK Singles Chart as well as the electro house single "Stay Awake" released on 28th August 2011.

Lil Wayne: Carter IV

Louisiana rapper Lil Wayne released the ninth studio album "Tha Carter IV" on 29th August 2011. Lil Wayne worked on this hip-hop album after he got out of prison on November 2010. He spent eight months in Rikers Island because of gun charge. Tha Carter IV is a disappointment after masterpieces Tha Carter II and Tha Carter III.

Lil Wayne is called the best rapper in the US. He collaborated with Jay-Z on his previous albums. He collaborated with Drake, Cory Gunz, T-Pain, Tech N9ne, Andre 3000, Rick Ross, John Legend, Bruno Mars, Jadakiss, Bun B, Nas, Shyne and Busta Rhymes on album "Carter IV".

Songs "President Carter", "John" and "She Will" featuring Drake are the best from this album. "President Carter" has anti-war lyrics. Wayne says, "If I die today, remember me like John Lennon" in the song "John". The lead hard-rapping single is called "6 Foot 7 Foot". This single was released on 16th December 2010 and placed No.9 on the Billboard Hot 100.

David Guetta: Nothing But The Beat

The fifth studio album, "Nothing But the Beat", by French DJ David Guetta was released on 26th August 2011. "Nothing But the Beat" is a double album. The first disc contains collaborations with R&B, hip-hop and pop artists and the second disc features only electronic instrumental tracks. "Nothing But the Beat" is electronic, house and dance album.

David Guetta had a good idea and added Nicki Minaj also to single "Where Them Girls At" where she matches to Flo Rida. Nicki Minaj sings also in single "Turn On Me". Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, Ludacris, Snoop Dogg, Usher, Lil Wayne, Jessie J and many others were involved in the first part of "Nothing But the Beat". David Guetta smartly mixed R&B, pop and hip-hop artists with his electro-house beats. "Nothing but the Beat" was inspired by rock band Coldplay as you can listen to in the song "Without You" featuring Usher.

The singles "Where Them Girls At", "Little Bad Girl" and "Sweat" warm up all dancefloors. "Titanium" featuring Australian pop and jazz singer Sia is the best track from this album. Guetta's music has become more pop and less dance. DJ David Guetta's success is resided in giving his fans exactly what they want.
